RBC CANADIAN OPEN

As a national open, and especially as the most accessible non-U.S. national open for American golfers, the event had a special status in the era before the professional tour system became dominant in golf. In the interwar years, it was sometimes considered the third most prestigious tournament in the sport, after The Open Championship and the U.S. Open. This previous status was noted in the media in 2000, when Tiger Woods became the first man to win The Triple Crown (all three Opens in the same season) in 29 years, since Lee Trevino in 1971. In the decades preceding the tournament’s move to an undesirable September date in 1988, the Canadian Open was often unofficially referred to as the fifth major.

The top three golfers on the PGA Tour Canada Order of Merit prior to the tournament are given entry into the Canadian Open. However, prize money won at the Canadian Open does not count towards the Canadian Tour money list.

TPC TORONTO AT OSPREY BALLEY

A parkland-style course built around wide corridors and challenging green sites with deep bunkers, the North was originally designed to offer signature playability and a strategic challenge for players of all skill levels. In 2023, the North saw a full-scale renovation led by Ian Andrew to transform the course into a venue for high-level competition and offer a championship experience for all golfers.

OUR PICKS
SHANE LOWRY 33/1

Shane for me is now once again ready to get that win and this event has been a good example of his skill set.

His previous results here are impressive reading:

 2018 – 12th 2019 – 2nd 2022 – 10th 2023 – 43rd 2024 – 33rd 2025 – 13th

Following his last missed cut at the Players he has shown strong solid golf, nothing outstanding but enough to pick up some nice cash and has had a couple of chances of winning at the Cadillac and most recent the Memorial.

One to watch this week and will be a good bet for the Open this year, he is currently at around 40’s

AARON RAI 40/1

Major champion Aaron arrives this week in excellent form.

It’s incredible to see how far he’s come. I played with him at a modest EuroPro Tour event more than ten years ago, so his rise has been remarkable.

Now ranked 13th in the world and already a major champion, his achievements are outstanding.

Even after everything he’s achieved this season, we still think 40/1 is a very strong price.

There’s not much more to add — he’s our NAP of the week.

JACKSON SUBER 150/1

Jackson is fast becoming a well-known name at the top of leaderboards having only turned pro back in 2022 he has already picked up close to two million dollars.

Keys areas of his game will be suited very well at TPC Toronto, the skill set he has regarding strokes gained approach to the green is one that will need to be high here to give you the best chance to win, he ranks 20TH on the PGA Tour this season.    Another stat that just flew of the page when deciding to put him in was his Proximity to hole stat, we also tracked his back nine in practice this week and he was the best out of the whole field in this stat alone.

His scrambling is also very good so we could be looking at a high odds winner here this week.

TOM KIM 80/1

We’ve really liked the way Tom has been playing recently, and he’s been firmly on our radar.

We tracked his rounds at the Valspar this year and were impressed by several stats that suggest a strong fit for this week’s setup.

He also posted a top-10 finish at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, where we closely followed his final round — a solid 67 that left him just four shots off the lead.

He arrives in strong form and has looked sharp on the practice holes, making him one to watch this week.
