Bernardus Golf is a challenging 18-hole championship golf course, designed by American architect Kyle Phillips, who was also responsible for the design of Kingsbarns, The Grove and Yas Links.
Bernardus Golf was built as a Heathland golf course, which makes it accessible to any golfer. The numerous bunkers are laid out beautifully and the tricky water hazards seamlessly blend in with the background of dunes, heath and gorse. A day of Bernardus gives you the ultimate feeling of peace, quiet and relaxation. Both on the course and on the driving range and short-game area.

Silverado Resort and Spa (North), par 72, 7,123 yards. The course opened in 1955 and was redesigned by Robert Trent Jones Jr. when the resort added the South course. Multi-time TOUR winner Johnny Miller freshened up the layouts about a decade ago. This year marks the sixth playing of the Fortinet Championship at Silverado. Located in the heart of California’s wine country, the layout boasts undulating tree-pinched fairways, challenging greens, and meanders through mature trees.

THOMAS PIETERS 12/1
We got to see a lot of his golf last week at the BMW and a lot of be positive with. Winner of this event back in 2015 and a golf course that fits his game well. I feel like with the Lowry pick last week he should be a banker.
The driver has been his downfall over the past couple of years but this is now showing a marked improvement as was proven around the West last week, you have to drive it straight around there and similar to here this week. He ranks 30TH in the driving accuracy on the European Tour now and has always had good distance control.
The putter has also been cold but again we saw his stats for putting and again plenty to get excited about.
He has made the cut every time he has played this event and I see more of the same this week.
GEORGE COETZEE 35/1
George has had a very indifferent season at the start of the year he was playing some very solid golf.
With a great tied 11TH place at the HSBC in Abu Dhabi, he had another top ten at the Saudi on the European Tour. He has been switching between the European and African Tours for a few years and seems to be working well for him. In fact he won the Vodacom De Zalze beating the likes of Jaco Ahlers and Jaco Van Zyl back in August.
He also has a great track record around here his last three visits to the event he has gone 3/44/15 not bad with a player of his experience and coming off a win only last month it looks to be a great little bet here this week.
WIL BESSELING 35/1
The win is coming for Wil. He played most of his golf on the Challenge Tour in 2019-2020 but is starting to make a name for himself over the past year or so on the European Tour. In fact I was in his group at the Alfred Dunhill in round one that week and boy was he impressive to watch.
His iron play has been a bit hit and miss this season and to be expected as the courses are set up a lot harder than the Challenge Tour events so can forgive him that stat. The stroke average for me is what counts and he is nicely inside the top thirty this season on the European Tour.
Our team helped set up the BMW Trackman Invitational where the Dutchman won the Wentworth event and won $10,000 for the charity of his choice, beating the likes of Wiesberger, Colsarts and Pieters.
He will win and no better place to win than back on home soil this week. Watch this space!!!
J LAGERGREN 60/1
Joakim seems to always make us some cash whenever we have played him. I liked his third round at the BMW last week it was the lowest of the day along with Sean Crocker 66.
He is starting to find that form again and he was a player who suffered a lot when there were no crowds so this should now be an advantage for him. He is also a player who seems to trend better at the later part of the year as previous results would suggest.
I feel he is primed to get on a roll very soon and I mean wins or top ten’s, the game is there. We got his numbers back from trackman, and his accuracy with the big stick was a marked improvement so if he can show this on the course then he will be setting up plenty of birdies this week.
Hopefully Sunday night we will be having a few Lagers with Lagergren.
EXTRA’S
A GARCIA-HEREDIA 66/1
HARRY HIGGS 100/1
Harry went on a run of four straight missed cuts in July from the Travelers to the 3M Open but the golf was not bad so not really going to read much into that to be honest.
Since then he has made three cuts back to back with a 15TH at the Wyndham and a 16TH place at the Northern Trust and then a 38TH at the BMW Championship.
Yet to break through and win on the PGA Tour but his game is good enough to get the job done if he has a chance this week. The team were very impressed with his display at the PGA Championship where he had a great week finishing in a tie for 4TH in a Major.
He has been working hard on his putting stroke and this is clearly paying off as his last three events he has gained in strokes putting on the field each week.
With the amount of Rookies winning he could be the next.
HAROLD VARNER III 30/1
I tipped Varner at the Wyndham at 80/1 he made the cut but drifted the wrong way over the weekend.
The team tipped him up at the Northern Trust but I left him out that week. He played well but was just outside the top ten in the end. His previous results of late have been:
- 11-MC-15-57-11-12
The only issue I did have with him here was his driving accuracy from the tee it will need to be better than his Tour stats, what with a lot of tree lined fairways he will need to be straight.
If he can get this up to around 75 to 80% we could be looking at the champion, the rest of his game ticks all the boxes around here.
PATRICK ROGERS 150/1
Lots of value on offer this week but I do like the chances of Patrick here. He has been recently switching from events on the PGA and the Korn Ferry Tour. To me its one of the best things he has done he has found his grove again at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship where he managed a good top twenty place finish.
He holds a very good strokes gained off the tee record which will suit him around here. He is also sneaky long so will be going in with much smaller clubs than most of the field this week.
Again going for yet another rookie and feel this could also be a great week to start his charge and pick up that win.
It could still be a little early for him but feel a top ten would also be a good pick this week.
BRIAN STUARD 50/1
Good price here for Brian I think. He misses his fair share of cuts but has been in a very good run of form of late. We caught up with him at the 3M Open and said then he has never swung the club so well. Saying that he then went on to miss cut at the Barracuda, then the following week he managed a top 15TH at the Wyndham.
His stats are all over the place as you can image with the amount of missed cuts but what I did like the look of was his driving accuracy and putting both reading very solid, and around here these will be two of the key factors in getting the job done here this week.
I feel that if he starts round one well he could have a great week and should be a top ten finish at least.
