HAINAN CLASSIC
The Hainan Classic will be the second of two consecutive events in China, co-sanctioned by the China Tour, on the 2025 DP World Tour schedule following the Volvo China Open, further strengthening the Tour’s presence in the region while also marking the end of the Asian Swing, the third of five Global Swings that form the first phase of the 2025 Race to Dubai.
Mission Hills Haikou, located on the tropical island of Hainan, is one of Asia’s most prestigious golf resorts. It boasts ten championship courses, including the renowned Blackstone Course, which will play host to the Hainan Classic. The venue previously hosted the 2011 World Cup of Golf, which was won by American duo Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland.
MISSION HILLS GC
“hosted the historic World Cup of Golf in 1995, China’s first ever international golf tournament”
Named in honor of the 41st World Cup of Golf which it hosted in 1995, this critically acclaimed course was designed by 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus. Completed in 1994, it’s the first course in China to be accredited by the US PGA for major professional competitions, and many of the world’s greatest players – including Tiger Woods and Greg Norman – have played on it. Winner of multiple international awards and heralded by the authoritative US golf publication LINKS as “one of the ten most significant and influential courses of the last 20 years”, Mission Hills’ World Cup course is widely hailed as one of Asia’s best golfing experiences.
FREDERIK SCHOTT 150/1
The first player mentioned has been frequently featured in betting reports. This player is currently performing well on the Challenge Tour. Observations from the Kenya Open this year indicated several positive aspects of his performance, which resulted in a top ten finish. It is anticipated that he could achieve similar results at this event. He is worth considering at this price point based on recent form.
MARCO PENGE 50/1
Marco, a good friend of ours from Horsham, had an impressive amateur career, defeating several well-known golfers. He turned professional in 2017, winning his first title at the Irish Masters and finishing third on the order of merit in 2020. In 2023, he secured two wins but has since focused on improving his swing and game. Recent events have shown significant improvement, and we believe he will perform well here.
JOOST LUITEN 25/1
We are sticking with Joost; he performed well last week, finishing in the top twenty. He excels in:
- Driving Accuracy
- GIR
- Stroke Avg
Joost is overdue for a win, with his last victory in 2018. It’s time for him to cross the line, and at this price, it would be great.
NIKLAS LEMKE 80/1
Lastly, we selected a player who has the potential for a good performance. We included Niklas due to his recent strong form. He lost his playing card in 2023 but has been improving his golf game since then.
Comparing his statistics from 2023 until now, several aspects stand out:
One notable improvement is his driving accuracy, which has also led to better Greens in Regulation (GIR). Consequently, he has provided himself with more birdie opportunities and could perform well here.
