OPEN DE FRANCE
The Open de France is a European Tour golf tournament. Inaugurated in 1906 it is the oldest national open in Continental Europe and has been part of the European Tour’s schedule since the tour’s inception in 1972. The 100th edition of the event was held in 2016. The 2022 edition will take place between 22 and 25 September on the Golf National course. There will be €3 million of prize fund. Last edition played was the 2019 tournament, won by Nicolas Colsaerts.
Originally played at La Boulie, the tournament has been hosted by many different venues, but since 1991, it has been held at the Le Golf National near Paris every year except for 1999 and 2001.
LE GOLF NATIONAL
Le Golf National is a golf course in France, southwest of central Paris in Guyancourt. Its 18-hole L’Albatros course was designed by architects Hubert Chesneau and Robert von Hagge, in collaboration with Pierre Thevenin.
Le Golf National hosts the Open de France on the European Tour, the oldest national open in continental Europe. First played at Le Golf National in 1991, it has been held there every year since, except on two occasions (1999, 2001).
Le Golf National became France’s first venue for the Ryder Cup in 2018. It also hosted the respective World Amateur Team Championships for men and women, the Eisenhower Trophy and the Espirito Santo Trophy, in both 1994 and 2022.

OUR PICKS
MICHAEL KIM 35/1
- Defending Champion Confidence
Kim secured a thrilling, dramatic one-shot victory at the 2025 tournament by shooting 16-under par. He proved his mental toughness down the stretch by executing a clutch, 16-foot par save out of the greenside bunker on the 18th hole to seal the title. Returning to a venue where you have recent winning memories provides an immense psychological edge over the rest of the field.
- Tailor-Made Course Fit
Le Golf National heavily punishes aggressive, offline distance but rewards target golf and precision. This setup matches Kim’s primary strengths:
- Elite Approach & Putting: Kim ranks in the top 25% of all professional golfers in both Strokes Gained: Approach and Strokes Gained: Putting.
- Navigating the Green Renovation: The course’s recent 18-month overhaul heavily modified the green complexes (especially the 18th). Kim’s superb touch around the green is crucial for managing these fast, sliding slopes.
- Electric Recent Form
Kim is playing some of the most explosive golf of his career.
- The 59 Club: He is the only player on the PGA Tour to card a magical round of 59 during the season.
- Consistent Top Finishes: He enters the week with a great run of momentum, boasting two Top 10 finishes over his last five starts, followed by a strong T24 finish at the Biltmore Championship.
ANTOINE ROZNER 50/1
- Tailor-Made Statistical Fit for the Albatros Course
Le Golf National does not care about raw driving distance; it fiercely penalises missing the fairway into the thick fescue or bouncing into the heavy water hazards. Rozner is the ultimate tactical driver:
- Fairway Precision: He relies on a highly controlled, disciplined ball flight off the tee. His structural strategy revolves around finding narrow landing zones, which is the exact blueprint required to survive this venue.
- Elite Approach Baseline: Rozner’s greatest statistical weapon is Strokes Gained: Approach. The recently wrapped 18-month renovation heavily altered the green complexes here. His ability to cleanly strike mid-to-long irons and find specific quadrants on sloping greens will mitigate the danger of the newly redesigned layout.
- Excellent Track History at Le Golf National
Rozner has fully proven he has the patience and vision to excel around this stadium-style terrain:
- Recent Contention: He put on a spectacular showing at last year’s Open de France, firing his way into a 12th-place finish.
- Scouting the Renovations: As an official brand ambassador for DS Automobiles (the tournament’s major partner), Rozner has logged extra preparation time on the revamped property. His micro-knowledge of how the new slopes break will serve as a massive advantage over international players adjusting to the course changes during Thursday’s first round.
- The Power of the Home Crowd
Winning a national open is a career-defining moment for French golfers, and Rozner historically channels that energy perfectly. He has publicly noted how much he feeds off the passionate Parisian fans, and he possesses the winning pedigree to convert that momentum—holding three DP World Tour titles to his name.
PAUL BEAUVY 1000/1
Our GBT analysts have highlighted him as an intriguing “outsider to watch” due to his specific competitive profile:
- Blistering, Red-Hot Competitive Form
Beauvy arrives at Le Golf National carrying some of the most explosive momentum of any player in the field. In August 2026, he completely dismantled the field at the DP World Tour First Stage Qualifying School at Golf PGA France du Vaudreuil. He medalled at the event by firing a majestic 8-under par 64 in the final round to finish at a staggering 20-under par total. He knows his game is operating at a peak level right now.
- Elite Technical Blueprint (“Made in America”)
Beauvy spent four years sharpening his game in the elite US collegiate system playing for Iowa State University while completing a degree in finance. This background gives him distinct technical advantages:
- Target Plodding: His collegiate training ingrained a highly disciplined, risk-averse style of course management.
- The Albatross Defence: Le Golf National fiercely punishes reckless errors. Beauvy’s ability to map out a golf course logically prevents the massive blow-ups that usually plague young players encountering the stadium layout’s thick fescue rough.
- Deep Local Course Knowledge & Low-Pressure Factor
As a prominent member of the French National Team, Beauvy has logged extensive practice rounds at Le Golf National throughout his development.
- Reading the Renovation: Having detailed familiarity with the complex’s baseline wind patterns gives him an edge when navigating the newly altered green contours and course layout.
- Nothing to Lose: Unlike the top-tier French pros like Matthieu Pavon or Victor Perez who carry the heavy weight of national expectations, Beauvy enters the week as an amateur invite. He can play completely freely, making him a prime candidate to sneak up the leaderboard.

JEFF WINTHER 40/1
- Spectacular Course History at Le Golf National
While many international players find Le Golf National’s tight, stadium-style layout intimidating, Winther has practically solved it:
- Recent Dominance: Winther finished in an impressive T2 (tied-second) at this event behind Dan Bradbury. He shot a flawless, bogey-free 7-under-par 64 on Sunday to fly up the leaderboard.
- Historical Consistency: He also finished T2 at Le Golf National behind Ryo Hisatsune, proving that his game works flawlessly across multiple years on this specific layout.
- Flawless Tee-to-Green Statistics
Le Golf National suppresses aggressive bombers and strictly rewards precision. Winther’s analytical model fits the blueprint required to win here:
- Strokes Gained Masterclass: Over recent weeks on the DP World Tour, Winther has ranked 8th, 17th, and 3rd in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green.
- Target Plodder: He excels at striking mid-irons to targets and keeping the ball in the narrow fairways. This is critical for avoiding the course’s notorious, heavy fescue rough.
- Excellent Current Form and Momentum
Winther arrives in France with his confidence running high. He is fresh off an impressive T15 finish at the prestigious BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, matching lines with elite players like Alex Norén at 12-under par. His ability to sustain sub-70 rounds in elite fields means his game is ready to contend immediately.
FRANCESCO LAPORTA 66/1
- Proven Course Form on a Hard Tracking Setup
Le Golf National is a notoriously penal stadium course that eats up players who rely solely on distance. Laporta has already cracked the code here:
- The T6 Finish: During the 2024 edition, Laporta was right in the mix all weekend on the Albatross layout, ultimately grinding out a superb T6 (tied-sixth) finish.
- Navigating the Redesigns: Because he already knows how to successfully play target-plodder golf around these tight corridors, he can seamlessly map his way through the newly renovated green contours that will shock the venue’s first-time visitors.
- A Season Highlighted by High-Peak Consistency
Laporta has quietly put together an incredibly solid 2026 campaign, demonstrating he can contend when the layout matches his technical baseline:
- The African Charge: Earlier this season, he posted back-to-back blistering weeks, finishing 4th at the Magical Kenya Open followed immediately by a stellar solo 2nd-place finish at the Investec South African Open Championship.
- Big Stage Experience: His phenomenal play in South Africa officially booked his ticket to cross a career milestone and make his major debut at the 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale this past summer. He is playing with the loose, confident freedom of someone who knows they belong in elite fields.
FABRIZIO ZANOTTI 175/1
GBT analysts have singled out the 43-year-old Paraguayan as a strong wager for the following reasons:
- Spectacular Recent Ball-Striking Metrics
Zanotti is entering the week riding a wave of elite, under-the-radar statistical form. At the British Masters at the end of August, he turned heads by ranking 1st in Strokes Gained (SG): Tee to Green, 2nd in SG: Approach, and 2nd in Greens in Regulation (GIR). Le Golf National’s Albatross course is notoriously penal, demanding pinpoint accuracy off the tee and precise iron play to avoid heavy rough and water hazards. Zanotti’s current swing is tailor-made for this layout.
- Upward Trend in Current Form
After a quiet first half of the season, Zanotti has completely turned his form around over the last month. He has put together consecutive high-end finishes that indicate his game is peaking at the right time:
- T7 at the Nexo Championship
- T9 at the Husqvarna British Masters
- T49 at the Omega European Masters
- Extensive Course Experience & Comfort
While recent course renovations mean players cannot completely rely on historical data, Zanotti has a deep notebook at Le Golf National. He has played the venue 14 times in his career, highlighted by a personal best 9th-place finish in 2014. Furthermore, he finished 12th the last time he played the Open de France here in 2024, and he has unique, fresh familiarity with the track after competing in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
