GENESIS SCOTTISH OPEN
ISCO CHAMPIONSHIP

The Genesis Scottish Open is a professional golf tournament in Scotland, and is one of five tournaments that are part of the Rolex Series, which identifies it as one of the European Tour’s premier events. It has been played on various courses, but in recent years it has been played on a links course, appealing to players who wish to gain experience before the Open, which takes place in the following week.

Since 1987 it has, together with John Deere Classic, been the last chance to qualify for The Open. It has been part of the Open Qualifying Series since that series started in 2014. The leading 3 players (4 in 2016) not already qualified, have received an entry to the Open. Before 2014 there was generally an exemption category so that the leading player or players, not already qualified, could play in the Open.

The Scottish Open became a Rolex Series event in 2017 (when the series was inaugurated), which meant the prize fund was increased to $7 million. Beginning in 2022, the tournament will be co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and title sponsored by Genesis.

In the Ladies Scottish Open, in 2019, hole 7―15 were used in front nine holes, and holes 1―6, 16―18 were used in back nine holes, while in 2020, holes 1―6, 16, 14, 15 were used in front nine holes, and hole 7―13, 17, 18 were used on the back nine.

The ISCO Championship is a professional golf tournament in Kentucky on the PGA Tour; it debuted in 2015 as the Barbasol Championship, an alternate event to The Open Championship in Britain in July. The first three editions of the tournament were played in Alabama at the Grand National course of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Opelika, northeast of Auburn. It was the first PGA Tour event played in Alabama since the PGA Championship in 1990.

In 2018, the tournament moved to Kentucky to the Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, south of Lexington, and was the first PGA Tour event (excluding majors) in the state in 59 years, since the Kentucky Derby Open in 1959.[2] (Valhalla Golf Club near Louisville hosted the PGA Championship in 1996, 2000, 2014 and 2024.

Like other alternate events, the winner of the tournament does not earn an invitation to the Masters. However, the winner still receives a two-year PGA Tour exemption and a trip to the PGA Championship.

In August 2021, it was announced that from 2022 onward, the event would become a co-sanctioned event with the European Tour, played the same week as an alternate event to the Genesis Scottish Open. It would also be an event that would give the leading non-exempt golfer entry into The Open Championship

HURSTBOURNE COUNTRY CLUB

Stately Lyndon Hall, built in the early 19th century and remodelled in 1928, now operates as the rather grand clubhouse at the heart of Hurstbourne Country Club. The estate, which was purchased by the Highbaugh family in 1949 and had its name changed to Highbaugh Farms, was developed as a country club in the late 1960s, with a 27-hole course designed by Chick Adams.

Nowadays, the main 18-hole layout extends to just over 7,000 yards from the back markers, playing to a par of 72. Notable holes include the toughest on the card at the 482-yard 2nd, with a pond in front of the tee box and another pond situated halfway along the fairway. The round ends rather unusually with a par three that plays across a little valley to a raised home green that’s circled by sand.
