LEE WESTWOOD 80/1

SKYBET 11 PLACES

Lee has been playing with a lot more freedom this year and has been in contention a lot playing on the European Tour this season. After winning the HSBC in Abu Dhabi back in January he has managed so many great finishes and been close to winning a number of times.

  • The Honda Classic – 4th
  • ISPS Handa UK – 17th
  • Andalucía Masters – 10th
  • US Open – 13th
  • BMW – 18th
  • Scottish AXA – 14th

With 42 international victories under his belt spanning twenty five years. Two time winner on the PGA Tour and represented Europe in the Ryder Cup ten times. He has to now be due a Major win he is too good a player not to win a Major.

His overall game is so solid and you know what you’re going to get. Great driver of the ball lost some distance over the years but still up there, very good greens in regulation around 70% this year. The stat that really does stand out for me is how good his putting stroke is now this explains why his putts per GIR has improved and ranks inside the top ten on the European Tour.

Since 2010 Lee has had a pretty impressive record at the Masters and as we have seen over the years’ experience around Augusta is always a bonus. He has gone:

2nd/ 11th / 3rd / 8th / 7th / 45th / 2nd / 18th

CAMERON SMITH 80/1

Cameron still seems to be a fairly young player to most but he has been around for quite some time.

Joining the PGA Tour back in 2015 he has won twice already with both wins coming in the way of a play offs. He defeated Jonas Blixt, Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown to win the Zurich Classic and then beat Brendan Steele to win the Sony Open in 2020.

Also winner of his own Australian PGA in 2017 and 2018, so this boy can play and has some balls.

Coming into Masters Week in some good form had a good top twenty five finish at the Shriners, then finished just outside the top ten at the CJ Cup. He then managed a tied fourth at the ZOZO at the end of October.

Another good trend we have noticed is that his driving accuracy, greens in regulation and strokes gained putting have all improved over this last four events. The putter for me is key this week, I think he should go well around here and if he keeps gaining over a shot a round on the greens then could be a great advantage come Sunday evening.

TYRRELL HATTON

28/1 PADDY POWER

6 PLACES

There are not many players teeing it up this week who are in better form than Mr Hatton.

Winner of our own UK Major at the BMW at Wentworth beating a very strong field on a very tough golf course. He then fly’s out to the US the follow week shoots a 65 in the first round to lead the CJ CUP, he managed a very respectable third place finish in the end with only a poor Saturday round of 73 costing him another win.

He was then around the top of the leader board the week after at the ZOZO opening with the same scores 65/68 but yet another poor Saturday 76 saw him drop down the leader board.

His Masters record is not great reading but he has never been playing this well before entering a Major week, he has gone missed cut in 2017, 44th in 2018 and then 56th in 2019. So well overdue a good performance here and no reason why he can’t do that.

COLLIN MORIKAWA

33/1 BETFRED 8 PLACES

I know that not many rookies have a good start around Augusta, but I feel this course and design could be just the right fit for Collin’s game.

So let’s have a look at his 2020 season so far:

Events played 21 – Winner twice – One Second – Three top ten’s

One of those wins was of course the PGA Championship which shows he can win majors.

The putter of late has been a bit off the radar and has seen him lose nearly one and a half shots per round to the field.

But there were some positive signs regarding his putting in the final round at the ZOZO, so all is not lost and he will be another player who will be geared up and ready for the Augusta greens for sure.
