CANADIAN OPEN
VOLVO SCANDINAVIAN MIXED
The Canadian Open is a professional golf tournament in Canada. It is co-organized by Golf Canada (formerly known as the Royal Canadian Golf Association) and the PGA Tour. It was first played 118 years ago in 1904, and has been held annually since then, except for during World War I, World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the third oldest continuously running tournament on the tour, after The Open Championship and the U.S. Open. It is the only national championship that is a PGA Tour-managed event.
ST GEORGES GC
St. George’s has hosted the Canadian Open five times:
1933, won by Joe Kirkwood, Sr.
1949, won by Dutch Harrison
1960, won by Art Wall Jr.
1968, won by Bob Charles
2010: won by Carl Pettersson
The course has been extended in length, to 7,025 yards, par 71, to attract more Canadian Open events. While the course is universally regarded as outstanding, issues of logistics, access, and available space in a crowded neighbourhood make hosting a tournament of this magnitude somewhat problematic. Logistical steps taken to host the Open include closing the busy thoroughfare Islington Avenue before and during the tournament, using the nearby Islington Golf Club’s practice facilities, shuttling the players back and forth to Islington Golf Club, limiting the number of spectators who can access the course, and starting play for the first two rounds from the 1st and 9th tees (normally it would be the 1st and 10th tees).
St. George’s has been announced as the host for the Canadian Open in 2022.

The Scandinavian Masters is an annual golf tournament on the European Tour played in Sweden. In 2020 the tournament became co-sanctioned with the Ladies European Tour and rebranded the Scandinavian Mixed, in which both male and female golfers compete.
MIXED EVENT
In 2019 Lagardère Group passed management of the tournament on to the European Tour, which renamed it Scandinavian Invitation. The following year the European Tour and Ladies European Tour created the Scandinavian Mixed hosted by Henrik and Annika, for the first time bringing 78 men and 78 women together to compete in the same tournament for the same prize money, but playing from different tees. Official World Golf Ranking points are offered for both tours, along with points toward the European Tour’s and LET’s respective season-long competitions, as well as Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup points, if applicable, which require the results to be divided between men and women.
The first event was originally scheduled to take place in June 2020, however it was cancelled like many other events at the time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event did return in June 2021, with Jonathan Caldwell winning the inaugural mixed event; shooting a final-round 64 to beat Adrián Otaegui by one shot. Alice Hewson was the highest placed female; finishing in third place.
HALMSTAD GC
Halmstad Golf Club (Halmstad Golfklubb; Halmstad GK) is a golf club located in Tylösand, Halmstad Municipality in Sweden. It has hosted the 2007 Solheim Cup and the Chrysler Open on the Ladies European Tour.
The North Course has a rich history of tournaments, perhaps most notably the Solheim Cup which was played here in 2007, and is one of the most well-known and prestigious courses in the country. As the holes are well spaced with tall trees on both sides, you rarely see players on any of the other holes and almost feel as if you have this gem of a golf course to yourself.
On the South Course, many feel that it is a little tight from the tee, but the intricate design offers just rewards for players who dare take the risk and attack the slightly shorter holes. Many have played both courses in a day, and more than a few have come to see the South Course as their favourite.

OUR PICKS
C.T PAN 50/1
One of our front runners this week is Mr CT Pan.
Seven straight cuts made and looking like his game is ready for a big week and even a win is not that far away.
Looking to break back into the top one hundred in the world rankings and he could well do that this week. One interesting point that the team picked up on this week was the fact we have five par three’s here and his scoring over the past few events have proven ever effective on par three’s. He was a total of five under par on the par three’s in Mexico in May and this trend is getting better so could be a major telling point come Sunday.
The Wells Fargo was another good event for him bagging a top twenty. His experience playing in Canada is also a big advantage where he has also won twice before at the Players Cup and the Cape Breton Classic back in 2015. He should have another great scoring week and has been looking great out there this week.
ADAM HADWIN 66/1
Canadian born Adam will be a home favourite here this week and the support we have seen for him already is amazing.
He should fly around the place and make plenty of birdies. The game is in a very good place right now.
- The Players – 9TH
- Valspar – 7TH
- Texas Open – 4TH
- Memorial – 18TH
His last win on the PGA Tour was the Valspar back in 2017 so well overdue a win. He ticks all the right boxes to shoot low around here as well. Greens in regulation nearly 70%, birdie average 4 per round. Tee to green also impressive strokes gained should fit here as well.
Putting has been an issue in the past but feel he is due a good week on the greens and poa annua could be just the ticket.
CHRIS KIRK 50/1
From what the team have said he looks to be one of the best iron players right now from what they have seen inside the ropes.
We saw plenty of his golf at the PGA Championship and what a week he had. Shooting some of the best golf of that week 68-70-71-68 ended up on 277 in a tie for fifth place.
With four PGA Tour victories under his belt already and well overdue another win he has also been knocking on that door this season. Already so close to winning the Honda and Arnold Palmer and also the PGA Championship this year.
I think there will be plenty of people having a few pounds on him this week and for good reason the only worry is the flat stick. If he can get this working then you never know he could be taking the lead and not look back.
OTHERS ON THE LIST
AARON RAI 100/1
Just a straight up horses for courses pick here and could be his breakthrough week on the PGA Tour and finally get that win he is due one.
PATRICK REED 33/1
Keeping the faith he owes us a good week and at this price am liking it a lot.
JASON SCRIVENER 40/1
We did have Kawamura in for this week but he has pulled out so have gone for Jason instead.
I just like the way he is going about this season, nothing too exciting but an event like this seems to suit his personality and the way he plays the game. He played ok last week at the Porsche Open with his opening round being the best score of the week with a 70.
Like I have said already accuracy is key around here to scoring low, he has that covered. Yet to break through on the DP World Tour but feel if he had a chance this track would suit him the best here. One to watch.
ALEXANDER BJORK 20/1
Very classy player is Mr Bjork. I have been following him a lot of the past few events and have liked what I have seen. Top twenty five in Soudal, followed that with a top ten at the Dutch Open and just last week another solid performance with yet another top twenty five at the Porsche Open.
Volvo China Open winner back in 2018. Runner up last year at the biggest event of the DP World Tour stage in the Tour Championship only just getting beaten by an in form Colin Morikawa.
From what I have seen of him last week the game is ready and playing on a much easier track he should go well here and could have a great chance of winning.
ROMAIN LANGASQUE 28/1
I feel the time is right for a French winner and no one better in the field here this week than Romain.
I caught up with him at the British Masters this year and he is in a very good place right now and was feeling good about his overall game and felt it was all starting to come together and he was not wrong. He landed a top ten that week and since then has made another two cuts at the Dutch Open and the Porsche Open.
He fits the bill here with his ball flight and keeping it in play is key around here so should be making plenty of birdies this week. His last win came back at the Wales Open in 2020 since then he has come close. In his last eight starts he has managed three top ten’s so pretty impressive.
Watch this space.
OTHERS ON THE LIST
SCOTT HEND 200/1
Hitting some form right now and at this price plenty to like 14TH at the Dutch Open a couple of weeks ago. If he goes on to make the cut who knows.
LEE-ANNE PACE 66/1
With a few of our team being on various ladies tours we have been given this tip as one to watch here this week. Currently sixth on the Race to Costa Del Sol and with 11 LET wins it should be a good solid bet here this week.
