TPC River Highlands, par 70, 6,841 yards. Located between Connecticut towns Hartford and New Haven, TPC River Highlands has been a PGA TOUR venue for 38 years now. The course is site of the TOUR’s lone 58 (Jim Furyk, 2016) but the key stretch comes on No’s 15-17 which play around a four-acre lake. Pete Dye oversaw a redesign of the course in the early 1980s, while Bobby Weed worked on an upgrade about a decade later after consulting with TOUR players Roger Maltbie and Howard Twitty.

I was very impressed with Russell’s play last week, a bent grass specialist. Coming back to a place he enjoys to play just outside the top thirty here last year. Reckon this week could be his week.

With three PGA Tour victories under his belt he should be adding to that this year. His career high light so far was when he held the 54 hole lead at the CJ Cup, and led the field in par four scoring averaging 3.75.

One stat the team have noticed in order to win here has been proximity to hole on approach shots, he ranks number six on the PGA Tour so should be making plenty of birdies here this week.

Good bet.

Chez ticks a hell of a lot of buttons here for me this week. Of course winner here in 2019. To be fair he always seems to show up and play consistently here.

Not the longest of the tee but to be honest around here that does not seem to matter, again the main factor will be distance to hole and putting.

He has been playing poorly in the build-up to last week’s Major missing seven cuts in a row. The team did say though he found something at the Palmetto Championship at the start of June so that is why I am playing him. OK he could be a flop and miss the cut it is a gamble, but if show previous form around here then we could be stealing money from the bookies this week.

Three times a winner here and will be on most people’s betting slip this week.

He has not been 100% for a while but we saw positive signs last week he was starting to find his groove again. We were in his Friday group last week at the US Open and that 67 could and should have been more like a 65. His weekend play was still a bit scrappy but overall plenty to warrant him into this week’s short list.

The course is a proper feel type track and people with good hands and feel around here seem to do well. Also the putter is now starting to play ball again. He could pull away from the field if he makes the cut.

My top pick for the week goes to Thorbjorn Olsen from Denmark. Five time winner on the European Tour and playing some of his best stuff this season.

We were with his group in Tenerife where he took the lead and was scoring some very low numbers, in fact we did think the magical 59 was on the cards on day one.

He will win in 2021 it is only a matter of time and feel this week could be his best chance for a while to close the deal against a weaker field.

His last five visits here read: 29-2-34-2-10 so that’s three top ten’s in his last four attempts here.

Much of the same again this week, routing for Denmark.

That is correct am going for both Molinari’s this week on both sides of the pond. They both seem to have find their game and wouldn’t it be a dream to have these two back in the Ryder Cup squad.

He was runner up at the Porsche Open at the start of June, he also followed that with a great US Open just outside the top thirty.

The iron play for me has been his marked improvement to his overall scoring in 2021, it is nearly back to best in ball striking and will be setting up plenty of chances here this week.

We all know the putter at the moment is COLD, even he said to us at the Porsche an 18 handicap could do better than him on the greens. I feel it will only be a matter of time before he starts to hole some distance putts then the confidence will come flooding back.

For a bit of fun I might do the Molinari Double this week.

Joachim has been on my radar for quite a while this season but have held back playing him. This week and course should be a horses for courses fit for him and the perfect time to get us some value.

We only had a couple of our team present at the Scandinavian Mixed but from what they said it was all good reading and should be in good form coming into this week. He carded 69-67-71-69 and ended up in sixth place that week.

His greens in regulation play has been improving and his short game is faultless. If the putter decides to play ball he could be making plenty of birdies this week.
